When about 3,000 Canadian Muslims held a convention in Toronto recently, they gave Bernie Farber a standing ovation as a "defender of the faith".
Bernie Farber is the executive director of the Ontario branch of the Canadian Jewish Congress -- one of the best known spokesmen for the Jewish community anywhere in Canada. With 190,000 Jews living in the province of Ontario, Farber represents far more than half the Jewish population of 365,000 throughout Canada.
Such high visibility has earned Farber recognition as one of the foremost proponents for various Canadian laws promoting multi-culturalism and clamping down on hate speech.
Bernie Farber: 'We can't just accept that when it's on the Internet, anything goes, including the spread of the most vile hatred. The Canadian Jewish Congress will not allow the Internet to be an electronic version of the Wild West -- lawless and uncontrollable [..] Our Canadian Human Rights Commission will ensure
that appropriate action is taken.' More |

In 1999, Canada ’s prime minister Stephen Harper said, “Human Rights Commissions, as they are evolving, are an attack on our fundamental freedoms and the basic existence of a democratic society…It is in fact totalitarianism. I find this is very scary stuff."
(BC Report Newsmagazine, January 11, 1999)
And so he should. Censorship is a full-scale project for the Canadian government. Last month it announced a plan “that would allow it to pull financial aid for any film or television
show that it deems offensive or not in the public's best interest.” [Harmony Grant April 14 2008] |
Canada is one of those countries which in recent years has implemented some of the world's most extreme anti-free speech laws. The country also received extremely large numbers of new non western immigrants the later years.
The Jewish lobby, by means of the Canadian Jewish Congress (CJC) with Bernie Farber, the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) and the ADL of B'nai B'rith' as well as the former Canadian Interior Minister Irwin Cottler (Jewish) have been the main promotors of this legislation.
Cottler got the 'War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity Act' through parliament.
Cottler later became president of the Human Rights Commission, Foreign Commission and the International
Criminal Court.
'The Canadian Human Rights Commission has already been used on many occasions to shut down websites and to place lifetime speech bans on webmasters who have been hauled before its tribunals,' (Fournier - src).
The combined Jewish efforts have been very sucessful at passing laws which are so extreme that when it came to hurt the neoconservative Jewish journalist Ezra Levant who published the Danish Muhammed Cartoons said:
'The Canadian Jewish Congress is a major part of the Canadian Human Rights Commission’s thought crime system, a system that’s rigged against the CJC’s political enemies.'
And
'A generation ago, illiberal elements in the "official" Jewish community pressed Canadian governments to introduce laws limiting free speech.
The targets of those laws were invariably poor, unorganized, harmless neo-Nazi cranks and conspiracy theorists such as Ernst Zundel and Jim Keegstra — nobodies who were turned into international celebrities when they were prosecuted for their thought crimes.
But now come Mr. Elmasry and Mr. Soharwardy [muslim activists] and their ilk, using the very precedents set by the Canadian Jewish Congress.
What a strange place Canada is in 2008, where the police care more about human rights than the human rights commissions do, where fundamentalist Muslims use hate-speech laws drafted by secular Jews,..'

Richard Warman (not Jewish) former CHRC employee is one of the most well known Canadian'Human Rights' advocates and activists, who went so far as to produce his own hate speech, and enticing others into endulging with him. He and some other zealots posted hate messages on the forum of the white nationalist website Stormfront. In some cases they hacked themselves into private wireless networks of innocent people to conceal
their identity on the Internet. In 2007 he received a human
rights award from
the Canadian Jewish Congress.

Mark Steyn, another Islam critical prominent Jewish journalist in Canada has also become a victim of the Canadian hate speech laws for publishing an excerpt of his book America Alone: The
Future belongs to Islam which appeared in Maclean's.
Correction
Some of the information published here before, regarding Joseph C. Ben-Ami and other people connected with the conservative think tank Canadian Centre for Policy Studies' apparently was not entirely correct. Our apologies.
